What is Arthritis?
  • “Arthritis” isn’t a single disease… there are over 100 different types of arthritis and related joint pain conditions. It can strike people of any age and make even the simplest chores and movements difficult and painful.
Types of Arthritis.
  • While degenerative arthritis, or osteoarthritis, is the most common type, Inflammatoryarthritis, infectious arthritis and metabolic arthritis also cause pain and joint damage.
  • Osteoarthritis occurs when the cartilage at the ends of bones wears away from age and repetitive motion, resulting in bone rubbing directly on bone and causing pain, stiffness and swelling. Excess weight, previous injuries, family history are also risk factors.
  • Reumatoid and psoriatic arthritis are examples of inflammatory arthritis, which occurs when the body’s immune system actually attacks the joints with uncontrolled inflammation. For these conditions, early diagnosis and swift treatment are very important.
  • Infectious arthritis is cause by bacteria, fungi or viruses which enter a joint and trigger an inflammatory response. Food poisoning, sexually transmitted diseases and Hepatitis C are examples of infections which can trigger an arthritic response. Antibiotic treatment is often effective to stop the infection, but the arthritis can become chronic.
  • Metabolic arthritis is caused by high levels of uric acid in the bloodstream which can trigger sudden episodes of extreme joint pain, also known as gout. Gout can be episodic, and reduction in uric acid levels are important to prevent chronic, ongoing pain.
Brazilian Menthol Pain Relief.
  • While different forms of arthritis may require different medical treatments including prescription drugs and lifestyle changes, the safe, proven pain relief of Brazilian Menthol can help soothe arthritic joints for prompt pain relief. And, because it contains no harmful drugs, Brazilian Menthol can be used whenever you need it, regardless of other treatments. Good to know if you’re living with arthritis.
What else can I do to manage arthritis?*

Of course, a medical professional should manage any arthritis treatment. But for the commonest osteoarthritis, mild to moderate symptoms can benefit from:

  • hot and cold therapies
  • regular physical activity balanced with rest
  • maintaining a healthy weight
  • strengthening muscles around the joint for added support
  • using assistive devices
  • avoiding excessive repetitive motions
